The Program

An 8-week summer internship program for college students interested in a career in finance. This program provides an introduction to both Barnum Financial Group and the financial services industry. During this opportunity, interns experience meaningful work, measurable learning, and mentoring. AdvisorScholar is a unique hybridized internship offering hands-on education in the form of administrative support for Barnum business units as well as traditional educational sessions to expand their knowledge of the business. Our interns are paired with an experienced financial professional who will mentor and give them an 8-week preview into the life of a financial advisor.

Mentorship Each intern is paired up with an experienced financial professional who will take them under their wing for the 8 weeks that they are here. By working side-by-side with these professionals, interns will gain valuable insight into the life of a financial advisor, expand their professional network, and get a true handle on whether or not this is a career they would pursue post graduation. Hands-On Training During the 8 weeks, in between time with their mentor, interns take part in numerous training sessions and exercises that will expand their knowledge on key financial topics, professional development, and other various subjects. Competition There are multiple challenges and competitions between the interns throughout the 8 weeks, including an investment portfolio challenge and a case study challenge. Interns use the knowledge they gain throughout the program combined with the guidance of their mentor to complete these challenges and compete to be the best. Eligibility and Selection – AdvisorScholar

Barnum Financial Group’s AdvisorScholar program is available to rising college sophmores, juniors, and seniors. There is an application and interview process, followed by a group interview by our selection committee, that will look closely at all candidates and select the best qualified students to take part in the program.
